If you attended the seventh stop of the Campus Rail Jam Tour at the University of Nevada, congratulations, you are hardcore. Anyone who is down to shred in 70 mph winds, sleet, and then a heat wave is A-OK in our book. You may think that living in such close proximity to Tahoe’s finest ski zones would turn these kids into spoiled shredders, but you would be sadly mistaken. The Reno/Tahoe snow scene has proven that they will ride anything, anytime, anywhere.

To a bus full of college-bred shredheads, the city of Compton doesn’t sound like a pleasant place to hold an inner-city rail jam. Sure, we all enjoy a little Eazy E or N.W.A. every now and again, but let’s face it, a shred-mob wearing tall-tees and tight pants probably wouldn’t be welcomed with open arms by the local homies. So naturally, when the Campus Rail Jam Tour crew began to head to a little city in Washington dubbed “Spo-Compton” everyone was a little skeptical. However, this ghetto-fabulous stereotype couldn’t have been further from the truth. Not only did Spokane welcome the Campus Rail Jam Tour with open-arms, but the event laid-claim to the best skiing and snowboarding of the entire tour. After 17 stops on the PB&RJ North American tour including recent stops at Keystone Resort and Stratton Mountain, the five top winners of each qualifier will battle it out in the finals for a chance to win part of the $30,000 prize purse and to become the 2010 PB&RJ Champion!
This popular amateur snowboard contest has been running for the past nine years and presents a fresh "jam style" format for the riders. Three park features dug in side-by-side to create a "rail zone" for the riders to hit as many times as they like within their twenty minute set. Riders are judged on the difficulty and style of their tricks and their best two scores make up their final result. Riders also have a chance to win $1000 straight up with Electric's "Gooeyest Move of the Day".
